Turks & Caicos Marriage License Laws/Requirements
Both parties must be in the Turks & Caicos Islands at the time of the application for at least 24 hours before applying for marriage license. The ceremony can then take place after a period of 2-3 days or at any time after the application has been granted.
Marriage Licenses are issued at the office of the Registrar in Providenciales. (Open Monday to Friday between 9:30 am to 4:30 pm). No blood test is required. At the present time these are the requirements for the acquisition of a marriage license:
• ID required at the time of application: Valid Passport, original copies and photocopies of birth certificates. If applicable: affidavit stating marriage status (if single), adoption certificate, change of name Deed Poll, Divorce Decree, and Certificate of Death (in the case of those who are widowed) will be required. Bring an original and a copy.
• Payment of Marriage License Fee [approximately $100].
• First, Middle and last names must match exactly on all of the following documents: Passport, affidavit declaration, and birth certificate. If not the Civil Judge may not proceed.
• If under the age of 21 parental or guardian's consent in the form of an affidavit stamped by the Notary Public is required.
• Marriage parties must not be within the prohibited degree of relationships to each other. Include a letter stating parties' occupations, marital status, age as of last birthday, present address of residence and fathers full name.
• Any Passport or documentation in any language other than English must be translated in advance and notarized by the applicable consulate.
• For church weddings Ministers may require proof of membership.
• Parties must produce evidence of the date of their arrival in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
• If either party is unmarried, being a citizen or resident of a country other than the USA a declaration certifying this fact must be sworn before a Notary Public or other person authorized to administer oaths in that country.
